History

BDO is a global network of accounting and consultancy companies, called BDO Member Firms, providing services to international clients. Each BDO Member Firm is an independent legal entity in its own country.

The BDO story begins in 1963 when accounting companies from the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, USA, and Canada recognized the opportunity to combine and thus expand their knowledge and skills. The resulting Binder Seidman International Group operated as a network of firms until 1973, when Binder Dijker Otte & Co was adopted as a common name.

In order to ensure that the local strength retained its prevalence, a global structure was introduced and the BDO acronym was agreed and placed before each local Member Firm. At the same time, a logo and corporate identity were created with the aim of promoting consistency throughout the network.

Since then, the BDO network has undergone a transformation that now sees it as one of the largest global auditing and consultancy networks, with 1,500 offices in 162 countries worldwide. It employs 73,854 people who promote values and goals of a global company. BDO is known for client rapport, partner accessibility, extensive local knowledge combined with a global outlook, and for partners and staff who are ethical and practical in their approach and advice to clients.
